August 1, 2017

Dear Noddin Families,

I am so excited to return and welcome you to the 2017 – 18 school year!  The teachers, office staff, and I look forward to welcoming the students to their new grade level and to Noddin Elementary.  We also look forward to re-establishing the school and community partnership that make Noddin an educational, fun, and exciting place to be!

I would like to take this opportunity to highlight the many changes that have taken place at our school.  While change can sometimes be viewed with trepidation, I’ve always felt it brings new excitement and opportunities.

The first change is inside our classrooms as we welcome six new teachers to our staff.  They are eager to join the Noddin Roadrunners team and are busy preparing for their first year with us.  They are: Alyssa Starr (Kinder), Brandon Baza (Kinder), Taylor Maia (2nd), Alyssa Micciche (4th), Emma Polden (4th), and Brandon Wallace (5th).

Additionally, we welcome a new school psychologist, Sheila Mansfield, and a new Speech and Language Pathologist, Gina Pagan.

The next changes you will notice are the construction projects that have occurred and continue to take place.  These projects include exterior painting, backpack hooks, a re-surfacing of the asphalt, solar panels, and newly created office and educational spaces.  Most exciting of all, our new STEAM lab will soon be ready!  This is being constructed behind the existing Library/Media Center.  Once completed, students will visit the STEAM lab to create, build, explore, and work with digital media.

Last, we are welcoming some new additions to the Noddin student family from the Athenour Early Childhood Education Center.  Beginning this year, Noddin will be the home of Union School District’s SDC Pre - School and Early Intervention Speech programs.  The staff members that will serve these students are Laura Better-Henry and Celeste Fama (SDC Pre), Charlene Dugan and Patti Brown (Speech), and Polly Quarles (Occupational Therapy).

Please continue to enjoy these last remaining days of summer and I look forward to welcoming you to an educational, fun, and exciting year!  Please see the reverse side of this letter for important dates and times, bell schedule, and class placement information, as well as the enclosed letter from the Noddin Home and School Club.
